At the Carousel on the Boardwalk700 Ocean Avenue at Asbury Avenue Asbury Park, New Jersey 07712 Set in 1968 against the backdrop of the Vietnam War, it invites audiences to spend an evening with a tribe of young hippies who are celebrating their youth and freedom from the social constraints of the 50's and early 60's, using free love and the drug culture to try and find their place in society. When Claude reveals that he's being drafted, the tribe struggles to come to terms with the world around them. Wild, irreverent, shocking and uplifting, "Hair" is just as relevant today, in the throes of another controversial war, as it was nearly forty years ago.
