Script Submissions
Throughout the year, ReVision Theatre schedules our Readings from Asbury Park Series to showcase new works. These are informal evenings of play and musical readings where we can bring to life works our Script Club has read and feels need to be advanced to the next stage.
Over the past five years, ReVision Theatre has performed works by New Jersey playwrights including Jeff Hughes, 2009 Richard Rodgers Award winner, including his plays “The Poor Don’t Play Croquet” and “Jersey City Moonlight.”
Musicals are a large part of our repertoire and we are always looking for new pieces to bring to our audience mounted a reading of a new musical about the lives of Lucille Ball and Dezi Arnaz, “The Cuban and the Redhead”. Written by Robert Bartley and Danny Whitman, it was featured in the 2008 National Alliance for Musical Theatre Festival, the 2008 Festival of New American Musicals in Los Angeles and in staged readings by the York Theatre Company.
ReVision has also highlighted the work of fast-rising and hard-working composer/writer Bobby Cronin with his time bending, plot-driven song cycle, “Daybreak.” A work that tells the story of two couples spanning a number of decades, this play was one of three finalists in the 8th Annual NJ Playwrights Contest.
Have you written a new play or musical? Looking to get it read or produced. As part of our mission, we look for new works to develop. Many scripts become part of our monthly reading series, the first step in the development process.
